Ballot
Initiative Petition
The Citizens for Liberty and Privacy have a ballot initiative petition
that if passed would free thousands of Floridians from the perpetual burden that they suffer and endure through the lifetime alimony statutes of Florida.
This amendment
modifies Article I of the Florida Constitution by providing that no person
whose marriage has been legally dissolved in the state is subject to any
type of alimony obligation as part of dissolution of marriage. The state
would no longer recognize "alimony" which was historically based
on the obligation of the husband to support his wife. This amendment
recognizes the state constitutional rights of both husband and wife to
privacy and equal protection.
Signatures are
being gathered to have the proposed constitutional amendment added to the
ballot for during the state wide elections cycle. Needed are approx.
500,000 signatures of Florida registered voters to get a the amendment on
the ballot.
The Center is pleased to assist the Citizens for Liberty and Privacy in Florida with their Florida Constitution Amendment
